29-6-15 BAKU FINAL BRITISH AND IRISH RUNNERS.

I decided to do the Back day by day in this review focusing on the Irish athletes first then the British as they tend to get more medals.
IRELAND 

Friday was a very good day for the Irish in badminton as Sam Magee and Joshua Magee Ireland started off with a bang they won there medal with Germans Raphael Beck and Andreas Heinz in silver position was Vladimir Ivanov and Ivan Sozonov. Carsten Mogensen and Mathias Boe representing Denmark won the gold

On Saturday Katie Taylor did what she does in winning gold in the women’s Lightweight beating  Estelle Mossely from  France the bronze medals went to home favourite Yana Alekseevna from  Azerbaijan and Tasheena Bugar  representing Germany

Michael  O'Reilly was definitely  Ireland's surprise package as he managed to win a gold in the men’s middleweight he beat the man the crowd wanted  Xaybula Musalov from  Azerbaijan  the bronze medals went to Maxim Koptyakov from  Russia, and  Zoltan Harcsa Hungary

On Sunday Chloe Magee and Sam Magee managed to get a bronze medal for Ireland along with , Raphael  Beck and Kira Kattenbeck Germany in the mixed doubles ahead of them in silver position was Gaetan Mittelheisser, Audrey Fontaine from  France and Sara Thygesen, Niclas Nohr  from  Denmark

THIS IS HOW GREAT BRITAIN DID OVER THE WEEKEND  
GB

Joe Joyce won the first big medal of the weekend on Friday and it was gold in the men’s super-heavyweight GB he beat Gasan Gimbatov from Russia who got silver and Tony Yoka France and Mahammadrasul Majidov Azerbaijan who both managed to get bronze medals

In the pool Luke Greenbank representing GB is beginning to show the form to be one to match out for as he won the 200 metre backstroke Mikita Tsmyh from Belarus won silver and Roman Larin from Russia got bronze

Amelia Clynes from GB got a silver in the women’s 100 metre butterfly behind   Polina Egorova from Russia who won gold in bronze position was  Ilektra Varvara Lebl  Israel and  Laura Stephens GB who tied for third

Team GB finished in second in the mixed 4X100 metre women’s relay behind Russia who won gold and ahead of Germany who won bronze

On Saturday team GB won gold in the men’s team sabre fencing ahead of Italy in second and Russia in third

 In the swimming on Saturday Charlie Attwood won bronze in the men’s 100 metre breaststroke representing team GB in second position. Andrius Sidlauskas from Lithuania and in first Anton Chupkov from Russia

In the men’s 200 metre freestyle Duncan Scott representing GB won gold just ahead of fellow brit Cameron Kurle GB Elisei Stepanov from Russia won bronze
In the women’s 4X200 metre relay team GB won bronze just behind Netherlands who won silver and Russia who won gold

Team GB won silver in the men’s 4X100 metre relay just behind Russia who won gold and ahead of Poland who won bronze

26-6-15 Britain and Ireland at Baku

BOXING

 Nicola Adams won another gold medal in the flyweight 48-51 kg weight. She does look to be a strong contender for GB as she has won both Olympic gold and world championship medals. She beat Pole  Sandra Drabik in the final and she got silver the bronze medals went to   Elif Coskun from Turkey and Saiana Sagataeva from  Russia

Qais Ashfaq from GB got a bronze medal in the bantam -56 kg along with  Tayfur Aliyev  from Azerbyjan. The gold medal went to Bakhtovar Nazirov from Russia and silver went to Dzmitry Asanau  from Bulgaria
SWIMMING        
   
Layla Black from GB managed to win a bronze in the women’s 200 metre breaststroke final she is still very young so coukld be one to watch out for in Rio. In second was Giulia Verona from  Italy  and the gold medal went to Maria Astashkina  from  Russia
Duncan Scott won a very important gold for team GB in the men’s 100 metre  freestyle. In second place was  Alessandro Miressi from  Italy and Vladislav Kozlov from  Russia got bronze. It does look like Russians are picking up a lot of medals at this European championships but it is a huge country.









Martyn Walton from GB picked up bronze in the men's 200 metre individual medley ahead of him was fellow brit Jarvis Parkinson and in gold position was Austrian Sebastian Steffan who was better in this race the brits or the winner of the race

GB won silver in the men’s 4x200 metre freestyle in first place was Russia and in third place was Germany.

GB won bronze in the women’s 4X100 metre individual medley ahead of them was Russia in gold and Netherlands in silver
IRELAND











Ireland finally won a medal at this European championships but sadly it was a silver as Brendan Irvine lost to  Bator Sagaluev from  Russia in the final.  The bronze medals went to  Muhammed Unlu Turkey and   Dmytro Zamotayev Ukrane

TEAM GB IN BAKU 2015

Luke Davis managed to win bronze in the men’s 200 metre breaststroke. He fell behind  1Anton Chupkov from  Russia who won the gold and 2  Kirill Mordashev also from  Russia who won the silver medal.
GB managed to win silver in the 4X100 metre mixed relay. They fell behind Russia who managed to win gold and ahead of Germany who finished in third place.


Luke Greenbank from GB  won gold in the men’s 100 metre backstroke   Filipp Shopin from Russia finished in second and got silver while  Marek Ulrich from  Germany finished in third place and got bronze

TEAM GB SEEMED YESTERDAY TO GET A LOT OF MEDALS IN THE POOL.

First was Abbie Wood and her gold this was the first medal for a few days and she was a hero to win it  for Team GB in the individual medley behind her was   Ilaria Cusinato from  Italy and in bronze medal position was Anja Crevar from  Serbia

Holly Hibbott then went out and won 800 metre freestyle gold for team   GB with Anastasiia Kirpichnikova  from  Russia  in silver and Marina Castro Atalaya from  Spain in bronze
 GB won the men’s 4x100 metre individual relay  in silver was Italy and bronze went to Russi

3 GB won bronze in the 4X100 metre relay for women ahead of them was the Netherlands in silver and Russia in gold

James Heatly,  Ross Haslam got a silver medal while Frithjof Seidel, Nico Herzog from Germany got bronze medals Ilia Molchanov, Nikita Nikolaev from Russia managed to win the synchronized diving


Hannah BAUGHN, Ryan BARTLETT representing GB got bronze medals in the mixed all around aerobics. Marina CHERNOVA and  Georgy PATARAYA from  Russia got the gold while Yana VASTAVEL, Solano CASSAMAJOR from  Belgium managed to finish in second and get the silver medal


                Brinn BEVAN from GB managed to get a bronze medal in the  Pommell horse Saso BERTONCELJ from Slovakia managed to  win the meet while in silver position was Oleg STEPKO from  Azerbaijan

  Amber Hill GB  managed to win the women’s Skeet Shooting behind her was   Diana Bacosifrom  Italy and in third place was Chiara Cainero Italy
