ENOUGH FOR IRELAND TO QUALIFY
Ireland’s future was out of their own hands after losing in
the semi-final of the European Men’s Field hockey championships in August and
were deepening on a result to come through for them. Ireland had come fifth in
the world masters which meant that they had to wait on other results. They did
come through bit by bit but it was a very slow process. Brazil won the south
American championship to allow Spain in. Australia had win the Oceania cup over
the weekend for Ireland to qualify and they beat New Zealand 3-2 this means
that Ireland will have a team in the Olympics for the first time3 in as far
back as I can think. I do not think Athletics or swimming are teams as they are
based around the individual and not the team.
