JAMICA57-49 UGANDA
JAMICA SEAL PLAY OFF
WITH WIN
Jamaica assured that they have got a shot at winning the
netball world cup with a comfortable win over Uganda. The match was eon early this morning but this
to me was the biggest match of the day and should have been on the main stage.
Uganda She Cranes' dream of reaching the 2015 Netball World
Cup semi-final were ended by the Jamaica Sunshine Girls after a 59-47 loss of
the Pool E game played at the Allphones Arena in the Australian capital of
Sydney on Thursday.
Jamaica led throughout the four quarters of the game despite
Uganda edging the second quarter 15-12. The first quarter ended 16-12 in favour
of the Sunshine Girls. By the end of the first quarter, Jamaica had managed to
score 16 goals off 18 attempts, a percentage of 89 and Uganda had 86 % after scoring
12 goals off 14 attempts.
On the half time mark, Uganda had narrowed the margin to a
single goal, the scores reading 27-28 – thanks to goal attack ace Rachael
Nanyonga’s flawless shooting prowess at a time when Uganda’s usually lethal weapon,
Peace Proscovia struggled.
Lanky goal shooter, Jhaniele Fowler-Reid, christened ‘Sky
Scrapper’ had registered double figures for team Jamaica as she totally
dominated the Ugandan defence.
